Professional home furnishings, gourmet criterion. Since VIKING entered the market, this name has become synonymous with the Epicurean lifestyle. Refrigerators and freezers. Wine cellars. Outdoor grills. Dishwashers. Ovens. Cooking surfaces. Tableware. Mixers and small appliances. VIKING has established itself with nothing less than culinary excellence in everything this company does. VIKING’s motto is “Necessity is the mother of inventions”. The founder of VIKING Corporation, Fred Karl, a fourth-generation construction contractor, had the idea of the VIKING cooker in the 1980s. In the process of building his own house, he faced the fact that the stove that he wanted to install in the kitchen simply did not exist. His wife Margaret admired the classic look of the Chambers stove her mother had. But the Chambers company stopped production long ago. So Fred decided to install a real restaurant stove in their new home. But he also knew that an industrial cooker would be impractical, bulky, and unsafe for a home kitchen. So Fred had to sit down at the drawing board. After many sleepless nights, he developed a hybrid that combined the power and characteristics of a professional cooker, but at the same time the design was quite suitable for home use. And then he decided that the moment had come to bring such a product to the market.
However, the reaction to his idea from industrial cooker manufacturers was something like this: “Who on Earth could buy a cooker like this?” They asked and pointed to the door. In the end, Fred convinced a small company in Southern California to make the first VIKING cooker for him. After two years of trial, error and intense testing, at the end of 1986, the first VIKING cooker was certified by the American Gas Association
VIKING soon opened its own production facility in Greenwood, Mississippi, USA, and realized that there was still plenty of room for professional ideas in every corner of the kitchen. By the end of the decade, VIKING had already launched three production lines in Greenwood, and VIKING kitchens had grown to include the full range of kitchen appliances. But this is not only equipment, perfect in design and decoration, but also highly professional.
